Some people fear difficulties in calculating carbon content, but rest assured:

The ADEME carbon base defines the carbon contents for the most common goods and services, simply register with ADEME as a user on
www.basecarbone.fr

The examples given here are all from there.
Globally, the ISO14067 standard unifies the calculations.

For building products, the ADEME database is even more precise under the name INIES. It contributes to the new RE2020 E C- regulation which consists of maximizing energy savings and minimizing the carbon footprint. This regulation applies from 01/07/2021 and allows manufacturers to claim improved carbon contents compared to the average.

A number of detailed explanations and calculations are presented on the page Wikipedia.

For your footprint calculations annual, there are several tools and applications, we recommend two for their simplicity and precision, based on ADEME values: the carbometer is additive and NosGEStes is subtractive (a little simpler and a little less precise, both require 15 to 20 minutes).

ADEME is the French national reference body for energy management and climate protection, it publishes the best carbon content databases, the www.basecarbone.fr for all products and services, and https://www.inies.fr/accueil/ for building materials and techniques.

Even more simplified: you can answer 6 questions and thus assume your carbon footprint: EMPRAPID

For quick carbon footprint calculation, you can also check the numbers and add them in the leaf simple below (possible in PDF)

Expense tracking

From your phone, you can load apps based on Ademe references: HelloCarbo or GREENLY which is a carbon footprint calculator that synchronizes with your bank account tracking. You can evaluate your carbon footprint from past months. Other teams offer similar tracking.

The application evaluates your footprint with ratios of kg of CO2 per euro. Generally correct, these ratios can be wrong if you benefit from a reduced rate or if you are forced to take a premium first class ticket for emergency reasons. The system is perfectible and clearly shows the possible connection with bank payments offered by the carbon account system.

Scan, simulate

The smartphone application KARBON scans barcodes of food products to extract CO2 information. These can be added together for a monthly budget.

For the carbon footprint of its municipality, the most successful is a spreadsheet taking into account its economic positioning in proportion to CSP , contact its inventor Jean-Michel Vincent for www.agirlocal.fr.

Simulator: The B&L Evolution design office was able to improve the simulator (proposed by MIT under the name of EnRoads) with a very stimulating tool for making projections over the next 30 years and trying to reverse the curve of climate chaos, excellent for leading a meeting.
